Andrey Borisov
General Manager of the Perm Opera

BIOGRAPHY

Andrey Borisov has been a General Manager of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre since the 2019/2020 season. From 2017 up to that moment he was a Chief Executive of the theatre under Teodor Currentzis as an artistic director.   

Candidate of Historical Science, Associate Professor, public and theatre leader.

In 1996 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of History of the Perm State University. In 2000 he finished the postgraduate course “Global History. Contemporary History” with the paper “American conservators and multiculturalism” (under the Doctor of of Historical Science, Professor Pavel Rakhshmir). From 2004 to 2008 Andrey Borisov was a member of the university dissertation council for the conferment of degrees in “Political Institutions, ethnopolitical conflictology, national and political processes and technologies”. He was a Research Secretary of the council.      

From 2002 to 2007 Andrey Borisov worked also as a guest expert in international and intercultural relationships in the Perm Krai Governor Administration and Perm Administration. From 2008 to 2015 he was a Deputy Head of the Main Certification Council of the Ministry of Education of Perm Krai.   

In 2008 Andrey Borisov headed the Department of Humanitarian Studies of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” (Perm campus) where he also was a dean and organizer of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. In 2016 he initiated opening of the Base Department of Histrorical and Documental Projecting that combined intellectual resources of universities and significant cultural institutes of Perm Krai.   

In 2014—2017 Andrey Borisov headed the State Archive of Perm Krai and turned it to the active cultural center. In April, 2017 he was appointed to the post of Chief Executive of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre.

He has held the membership in the Presidential Council for Culture and Art since 2019. 

In 2019 he was awarded the Perm Krai Prize in the field of culture and art in the nomination “Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage” for the idea and implementation of the project “Legends of Perm Theater”.
