Alexander Pogudin

BIOGRAPHY

Pogudin is a soloist of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1998 he graduated from Kirov Musical Art College named after I. V. Kazenin (class of Honored Artist of Russia Valentin Gerasimov), and in 2006 he graduated from Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (class of People’s Artist of Russia Professor Arthur Aisen, and Honored Artist of Russia Professor Nicolai Maiboroda).

Between 2000 and 2004 he was a soloist of the Kirov State Philharmonic and since 2004 he has been a soloist of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. Hе has taken part in the National ‘Golden Mask’ Theatre Festival-Award, and performed as Bonze (2006, Stravinsky’s The Nightingale), Le Premier Ministre (2007, Massenet’s Cendrillon, or the Tale of Cinderella), and Charon (2009, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo). In 2008 he took part in the Perm Opera tour at the Carnegie Hall in New York (he sang as Kotchubey in Tchaikovsky’s opera Mazeppa).

His repertoire of roles includes Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov), Grigory Gryaznoy (Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride), Giorgio Germont (Verdi’s La traviata), Zuniga (Bizet’s Carmen), and in Tchaikovsky’s operas Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta), Prince Gremin, Zaretsky (Eugene Onegin), and Tomsky (The Queen of Spades).
