BIOGRAPHY

Petr Beliakin graduated from the Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory (clarinet class and the class of opera and symphony conducting under the guidance of Arnold Kats). Since 1991, he has been artist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre; since 1999, was concertmaster of the clarinet group; since 2004 — conductor of the theatre; in 2016-2017 — associate musical director/principal conductor of the theatre.

In his repertoire more than forty operas and ballets. As the second conductor, Petr Beliakin has worked on the Russian premiere of Janaček’s Káťa Kabanová (director Tomas Simerda, 2007), he conducted the Russian-Korean production of Khachaturian’s Spartacus (choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, Seoul, 2007).

Since 2004, he has been assistant conductor Teodor Currentzis. He participated in projects such as Verdi’s Don Carlos and Macbeth at the Opéra national de Paris (2008), Berg’s Wozzeck at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia (2009), Weinberg’s The Passenger in Bregenz (2010), Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte in Baden-Baden (2011).

Since 2012, he has been working with the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre: conductor of the ballet premiere of Nikolayev’s Gereven. In the 2014/2015 season, he conducted Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 2, 4, 8 with the musicAeterna Orchestra, and also presented the concert performance of Puccini’s Tosca with the Symphony Orchestra of the theatre. Since the 2017/2018 season, Petr Beliakin has been conductor of the theatre. In his repertoire: Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, Massenet’s Cendrillon, Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and La bohème, Honegger’s Jeanne au bûcher, Adam’s Le Corsaire.
