BIOGRAPHY

Was born in Perm (Russia) and immigrated to Israel in 1990. Upon his graduation from the University of Tel Aviv, he performed with the New Israeli Opera as Prikazchik in Lady Macbeth of Mzensk conducted by Valery Gergiev, and as Imperial Commisario and Bonze in Madama Butterfly. He participates in the Israel Vocal Art Institution (IVAI). Yuri Kissin is a former member of the Paris Opera Studio. From then on, he was invited back to take part in 300 productions, such as War and Peace, Tosca, Parsifal, «K» by Philippe Manoury, Don Carlos, Boris Godounov, Evgeny Onegin, La Traviata, Capriccio, Ariadne auf Naxos, Les Les Dialogues des Carmélites, Madame Butterfl y, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Khovantschina…

In the past few seasons, besides his activities at the Paris Opera, he sang in Montpellier, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Rennes, Toulon, Limoges, Nantes, and also at the Theatre des ChampsÉlysées in Paris and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (le Médecin from Pelléas et Mélisande), Tel-Aviv (Basilio from Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Moscow (Haly from L’Italiana in Algeri), at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and in Lyon (the Newspaper Employee in Shostakovitch’s the Nose), Lacoste and Antibes (Masetto), Perm (Pandolphe from Massenet’s Cendrillon), Madrid (Medico from Macbeth), Maribor (Leporello from Don Giovanni).

In the concert field, he was heard, among others, with the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Pierre Boulez (Janacek’s Messe Glagolitique), and with the Orchestre national de France (Chapochnikov’s Poisonned Garden). During 2013/2014 season, he sings Don Magnifico from La Cenerentola in Metz, he takes over the part of Masetto in Chartres, he goes back to the Théâtre des Champs Elysées for Les Les Dialogues des Carmélites. In Israel, he sings Douphol from La Traviata under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Franck from Die Fledermaus and Bartolo from Barbiere di Siviglia.

Engagements for 2014/2015 include Orlik from Mazeppa at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Slave from Massenet’s Cléopâtre in Paris, and he will take part in the Lady Macbeth from Mzentsk in Monte Carlo.
