Markus Hinterhäuser, Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival:

— Teodor Currentzis is so gifted, he delves so deeply into comprehension of a composer, that, in my opinion, now is the right moment for his Beethoven cycle. I have heard some performances of these cycles for the recent years. They were not very interesting. While there is so much life in Currentzis’ interpretations, that today it’s well within his powers. I’m sure that Currentzis with his orchestra in Salzburg with Beethoven’s symphonies is something special (Colta)

For the last 25 years there were two performances of all symphonies by Beethoven: in 1994 by Chamber orchestra of Europe conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and in 2009 by Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen conducted by Paavo Järvi.

The 5th Symphony by Beethoven will also be performed by Perm musicians on the 25th of August at the opening of the Bremen Music Festival.
