On 16 April 2014, Galina Kiryanovna Polushkina became the executive director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Anatoly Yevgenyevich Pichkalev’s contract with the Ministry of culture, youth policy and mass communication of the Perm Krai has come to an end, and with the agreement of both parties, a new contract was not drawn up. Anatoly Yevgenyevich, whose contribution can not be overestimated, is leaving the theatre, paving the way for further development: in the near future the construction of a new building will start and the theatrical «lingering» construction will be completed – a home for the employees at 5 Gorky Street.
Galina Kiryanovna’s candidacy was proposed by the artistic director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, Teodor Currentzis. Galina Polushkina is a strong director, whose professional qualities are necessary for the theatre to achieve the goals facing the institution: the reconstruction and construction of a new building and attracting additional resources.
Anatoly Pichkalev:
— About the results of my work you would have to first of all ask the theatre. For me, work was very comfortable; the Opera and Ballet Theatre became my family. Of course, no less of a family than the Perm Academic Theatre-Theatre, in which I worked for over 15 years.
It was quite a challenge for me to join Teodor’s team in order to create a new theatre. I love the team and it was wonderful to work with the people who were under my direction. I think that the success of our work can clearly be seen by the huge amount of awards, gratitude, and positive write-ups and reviews that we received.
Marc de Mauny:
— This is not the first year that Galina Kiryanovna is supporting the theatre in the capacity of deputy director of the company Prognoz, the theatre’s chief sponsor. The partnership between the theatre and the company Prognoz can be described as ‘exemplary’: the company helps us not only with essential needs, but also with friendly and expert advice, without trying to influence artistic policy. It is a natural transition for Galina Kiryanovna to move from patron to manager and is driven by her love for the theatre, vast managerial experience, and her willingness to lobby for the interests of the theatre at all levels. Galina Kiryanovna heads, а strong, united team and I am confident that we will achieve all of our most ambitious goals.
Galina Polushkina:
— It was not the easiest decision for me to take on the position of executive director of the theatre. The company Prognoz has been supporting the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre for a long time. I am convinced that business should support culture, as culture is an important factor in the formation of a city’s artistic and intellectual milieu.
With the arrival of Teodor Currentzis, the fame of the theatre is growing constantly and ahead of us now lies the task of building a new stage, in accordance with the creative standard of the theatre.
