musicAeterna conducted by Teodor Currentzis have become laureates of the Edison Klassiek award in nomination «Orchestra» for the recording of the Sixth («Pathetic») symphony by Tchaikovsky. The award ceremony will take place in the culture center De Hallen Amsterdam on the 11th of November.
The Jury wrote: ‘Everything in this dizzying recording is of an almost unimaginable beauty and intensity. Once again, Currentzis and his dedicated musicians triumph over their self-willed, hyper-perfectionist approach’ The experts also note the ability of the Perm musicians to follow the author’s idea strictly and naturally.
The album with the recording of the Sixth («Pathetic») symphony by Peter Tchaikovsky performed by the orchestra musicAeterna and conducted by Teodor Currentzis was released on the Sony Classical label in 2017. The recording have already been honorably mentioned in favorable reports from leading musical editions and prestigious awards, in particular, Japanese Record Academy Award.
Edison Klassiek is one of the oldest awards in the world of music industry awards. The award named after the inventor of the phonograph, Thomas Edison is presented annually by the Dutch Association of Producers and Importers of image — and sound carriers for releases in different genres.
