The Perm Ballet will be the main event of the Perm Days in China

The Perm opera and ballet theatre will take part in the Days of the Perm territory in China. The artists will perform the signature work of Russian academic dance school – the ballet “Swan Lake”. The Perm ballet will perform in Fuzhou city of the province Jiangxi on the 26th and the 27th of September. “Swan Lake” will also be the part of the program of the International festival named after Tian Xiang Zu — the outstanding theatre forum held in Fuzhou.

Fuzhou is an ancient city in the South of China with a history started somewhere in 200 years BC. Its name means “blessed land” because the city is surrounded by mountains and picturesque parks. But this place is also famous as a centre of chemical, woodworking and paper-pulp industry, thus it completely repeats industrial description of the Perm territory. The business-mission of the Perm territory visits Fuzhou for a second time. This year in the program of the “Perm days” that will be held in the end of September there are business meetings, the presentation of the investment potential and educational programs of the region, signing if several cooperation agreements and the performance of the artists of the Perm opera and ballet theatre.

Andrey Borisov, the executive director of the Perm opera and ballet theatre:

— Ballet is very popular in China, especially the Russian ballet. People love our artists and look forward to see them. Last year in Fuzhou was held a big international conference of theatre managers where experience and opportunities of the Perm opera and ballet theatre were presented. Our theatre raised big interest among the colleagues from China and other countries-participants of the forum. Consequently, we proceeded to realization of the reached agreements.

The Perm opera and ballet theatre will present in China “Swan Lake” in edition of Natalia Makarova. Prima ballerina of the Mariinsky theatre in 1960s and after immigration in 1970  — a star of London and New York, Natalia Makarova staged her own version of the famous ballet on the Perm stage in 2005. In her edition the canonical choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov (1895, the Mariinsky theatre) was extended by the elements of Frederick Ashton’s choreography. The show in this version had been in the repertoire of the theatre  for ten years until it was changed by the new edition of the main ballet master of the theatre Aleksey Miroschnichenko. Now “Swan Lake” by Makarova is held in the theatre as a tour alternative of the show and was successfully performed in Canada, the USA, Switzerland, France, Ireland and the Netherlands.

The performance of the Perm opera and ballet theatre will also be the part of the program of the International festival named after Tian Xiang Zu — the theatre forum held in Fuzhou. The Perm artists will give two performances — on the 26th and on the 27th of September. In this performances work almost all artists of the ballet company and the musicians of the Symphony orchestra of the theatre and the orchestra musicAeterna — all in all 135 people.

The Perm territory and the province Jiangxi cooperate in the format “Volga – Yangtze”. The cooperation agreement of the regions of the Privolzhsky federal district of the Russian Federation and the upstream and middle flows of the river Yangtze of the People’s Republic of China was signed in 2014. In the context of cooperation of the regions of the PFD with the provinces of China in the format “Volga — Yangtze” there were implemented more than 40 common projects in spheres of education, tourism and youth policy.
