Constantinos Contocristos
Stage Director
Biography
Constantinos Contocristos studied philosophy and languages at the University of Athens as well as music theory and singing in the National Conservatory of Greece where he graduated as a tenor.
Soon after completing his studies he moved to Germany where he toured mainly as a concert artist while collaborating with ensembles like the Greek theater of Wuppertal and Kulturforum Frankfurt as both a singer and an actor. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for direction. Soon Constantinos Contocristos started directing theatre for festivals around Germany focusing on ancient Greek drama but also modern pieces by various contemporary authors. However, opera had remained throughout the central focus of his activities, performing as well as coaching musicians and singers for the classical music world.
The production of Lucia di Lammermoor in Perm is his first experience as director in the opera.
