BIOGRAPHY

Studied at the State Academy of Music in Oslo and graduated from the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen with Susanna Eken. His opera roles include Tamino in Die Zauberfl öte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Evandre in Gluck’s Alceste, Enea in Cavalli’s La Didone, Medoro in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino, Aret in Haydn’s Philemon und Baucis, title roles in Vivaldi’s Tito Manlio and Catone in Utica, Lucano in L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Telemaco in II Ritorno d’Ulisse, Giove in Gluck’s Bauci e Filemone, Ati in Gluck’s Aristeo and Natura as well as Pane in Cavalli’s La Calisto.

He has worked with conductors such as Hansjörg Albrecht, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Fabio Biondi, Ivor Bolton, lessandro De Marchi, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Gary Cooper, René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski, Andrew Parrott, Christophe Rousset, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Federico Maria Sardelli and Marc Soustrot. Has appeared in Opera Houses and festivals such as Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Regio in Torino, Teatro Real Madrid, Staatsoper Berlin, Opéra de Paris, Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, Opéra Garnier Monaco, Théâtre de La Monnaie Brussels, Vlaamse Opera Antwerp, Royal Swedish Opera, Norwegian National Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Innsbrucker Festwochen der alten Musik, the Drottningholm Festival in Stockholm, and at the Kirsten Flagstad Festival Hamar as well as in Oslo.

Staveland’s concert repertoire includes a large number of masses, oratorios, symphonies and song cycles by Bach, Beethoven, Britten, Caldara, Dvořák, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Monteverdi, Mozart, Purcell, Scarlatti, Telemann and Vivaldi. In future: opera performances at the Vlaamse Opera, Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa, Opéra de Paris, Théâtre de La Monnaie Brussels, and also concerts in Gothenburg, Oslo, Paris, Brussels.
