Biography
After studying fashion and costume design at the Koninklijke Academievoor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp (2000) and at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee (2006) Meta Bronski worked as an assistant at Off Broadway Theatern — The Bowerie Lane Theatre and Blue Heron Theatre in New York City. She also worked as artistic associate and head of production at the Semperoper Dresden (2008/2009, Tosca by Verdi, stage director Johannes Schaaf), the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona (2008/2009, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg by Wagner, stage director Claus Guth), the Salzburg festival (2010, L‘Orfeo by Gluck, stage director Dieter Dorn), the Easter festival at Baden-Baden (2012/2013, Mozart’s Die Zauberfl öte, stage director Robert Carsen). She worked also with directors like Thomas Langhoff, Karin Beier, and Karin Henkel.
She is a founding member of the theatre platforma usbau.sechsand was in charge of the costumes for play sat the Schauspielhaus St. Gallen, the Residenztheater Munich, theTeam theater and the Pathos theatre, both also in Munich. The costumes for Don Giovanni is Meta Bronski’s debut as a costume designer for an opera.
In plans: artistic head of costumes production for Berg’s Wozzeck (coproduction by Oper Zürich and Metropolitan Opera New York; stage director is Andreas Homoki). Premiere will be in 2015.
