The Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre has received seven nominations for the Golden Mask Awards 2014

The Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre has received seven nominations for the Golden Mask National Theatre Awards 2014. The nominees for the awards were announced today, the 14th november, at a press-conference in the Stanislav and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in Moscow.

Two productions from the Perm Theatre, The Marriage of Figaro and The Second Detail  will be performed as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Golden Mask theatre festival in Moscow in spring 2014.

Two productions from the Perm theatre, Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) and The Second Detail have been nominated by the jury for awards the categories of «best opera» and «best ballet».

Teodor Currentzis has been nominated in the category of «best conductor in opera».

The Perm Opera Theatre's production of The Marriage of Figaro  appears in the lists of nominations six times. Phillip Khimmelmann (director), having taken the action of the opera into a land of abstract and symbolism, is nominated for the award of «best director in opera». Individual soloists from the opera have also been nominated: Natalya Buklaga (in the role of Cherubino) and Anna Kasyan (Susanna) have been nominated in the award of «best actress in opera», and Andrei Bondarenko (Count Almaviva) has been nominated in the award  of«best actor in opera»

The Golden Mask Festival will take place in Moscow from the 27th March to the 17th April 2014. The awards ceremony will take place on the 18th April 2014 on the main stage of the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow.
