Zarina Abaeva

Biography

Graduated from the Vladikavkaz College of Arts named after Valery Gergiev (class of Docent Nelly Khestanova) in 2006, and in 2011 — from the Vocal Faculty of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (class of Professor Rusanna Lisitsian).

Since 2012 she has been a soloist of the Tchaikovsky Perm State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Her repertoire includes such roles as Iolanta (Iolanta), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Maria (Mazeppa), Agnes Sorel (The Maid of Orleans) in the operas by Tchaikovsky; Micaëla (Bizet’s Carmen), Mimì (La bohème), Butterfly (Madama Butterfly), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica) in the operas by Puccini, Katya (Weinberg’s The Passenger), Aida (Verdi’s Aida), Blanche (Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites).

For the performance of Antonia’s part (Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann) she was nominated for the ‘Golden Mask’ Award 2016. She is a prize winner at the Nadezhda Obukhova AllRussian Competition for Young Singers (2010, Lipetsk) and Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition (2016, 3rd Prize).
