The opera was written in 1860. This version was first performed in Perm in 2010.
The vaudeville plot, which begins with an accidentally broken cup, features a man and his two wives: his ex-wife and his current one. In this miniature opera by the composer of L’elisir d’amore, beautiful Italian bel canto melodies are successfully combined with risqué jokes.
Set designer Elena Solovyova has made the setting for the production a theatre foyer, where all the romantic skirmishes take place.
