Watch full video version of Beethoven’s Fidelio on Perm Opera website on October 30, Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions. The only Beethoven’s opera was performed on July 3, 2010, in Gulag Museum “Perm-36”.
The Fidelio’s story proclaims the triumph of truth over tyranny and that makes it be pretty much accordant to the real experience of people who were imprisoned in “Perm-36”. The production, as international crew of directors say, is the reflection of the past and the caution to the future generations. Among directors are Georgy Issakyan, art director of the production, Michael Hunt (Great Britain), stage director, Valery Platonov, musical director and conductor, and hundreds of performers such as soloists, chorus, crowd and musicians of symphony orchestra.
